LEADER of Biafra Independence movement and founder of
movement for actualization of sovereign state of Biafra BIM-MASSOB, chief Ralph
Uwazuruike, on Wednesday 3oth, disclosed that policemen drafted from the Imo
state command, Owerri, had laid 20 minutes siege on his residence.
Disclosling this to Newsmen 30th
May 2018 in a statement signed by the Biafra Director
of information, Mazi Chris Mocha, Uwazuruike who told the police
that his men was against the stay at home declared by the indigenous people of
Biafra (IPOB), also explained that BIM-MASSOB members had been holding their
meetings on the 30th of every month since February 2004 till
date.
He also told the police who laid siege
on his Ralph Uwazuruike’sstreet that BIM-MASSOB was not part of the stay at
home adding that if we were to observe the directive, his members who arrived
here from Delta, Anambra, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers and Abia States would have
remained in their houses.
“I am against the stay at home order. I
told some Bank managers who called me on their mobile phones to open their
Banks to customers and informing them there won’t be any problem.
I started the Biafra struggle for
independence since September 13, 1999, and I am a lawyer for about 30 years
now.
I have not offended any law(s) of the
Federal Republic of Nigeria. Don’t arrest my members but if there is
any reason to arrest them, arrest me, Uwazuruike begs the police as
he stretched his two hands forward for them to handcuff him, Uwazuruike further
told the police that the groups who declared the sit at home have no known
addresses except on the social media Networks and on the pages of NigerianNewspapers, assuring
the Divisional police officer (DPO) for New Owerri, the head of
special investigation and intelligence (SIIB) Bureau and other superior police
officers (SPOs) who led the operation that there won’t be any problem as
BIM-MASSOB celebrated Biafra Day on 22nd May, before the team
vacated his residence.
