The leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the
Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has its weight behind the re-election of
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.
MASSOB said it had resolved to support the continuation of
Governor Ikpeazu in office because of his ingenuity and robust infrastructural
developments, health care, social welfare and revival of the economy of Abia
State.
A statement issued by its leader, Uchenna Madu reads: “Today
Ndigbo can be proud of (Enyimba City) and the sudden transformational outlook
of this great city of Igbo land. Aba has suddenly bounced back to its ancient
glory of the commercial engine room of Igbo land.
“We encouraged the citizens and residents of Abia State to
return back Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to continue the good governance in the
state.
“MASSOB resolved and submitted that we shall support
Igbo-oriented political office holders like some governors and state Assembly
members who are eloquently developing the infrastructure, economic, health,
social stabilities and sports sectors in their respective states and
constituencies.”
He noted that MASSOB would also liaise and cooperate with
Igbo traditional and religious leaders for this cause.
According to the statement, “the people of Biafra are tired
of Hausa-Fulani’s stooges that are representing our people. Governors that are
positively touching the lives of our people through health care,
infrastructural development, youths, and women empowerments will also have our
support.”
In Lagos State, MASSOB have also urged its members to vote
for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje Giving
reasons for supporting Agbaje, Madu said: “Our convictions to support the PDP
candidate is for the enthronement of a Lagos state governor that will see the
Igbos and other non-Yoruba as citizens of Lagos.
“We need a new government in Lagos that is not ethnic-bias
or oriented with envy against Ndigbo. We must come out and massively and vote
for the PDP candidate as a sign of solidarity to our uniqueness and
consistency. Our business interest in Lagos, our lives and properties must be
protected.”
Similarly, MASSOB has also declared support for governors
Nyesom Nwike, Emmanuel Udom, Ifeanyi Okowa and Ben Ayade of Rivers, Akwa Ibom,
Delta and Cross River states respectively.
